"Into the night with. Bryan Ferry and Dieter Meyer".
Dieter Meier shows around Ferry in his hometown Zurich. The two of them take
a snack in Dieter Meier's own whine-store where he provides Bryan Ferry with
the products of his Argentinean Farm. They visit an exhibition of Swiss
artist Urs Fischer and do some late night shopping. In the course of their
inspiring conversations about music, lifestyle and more private topics a new
friendship starts developing.
As a kind of double portrait "Into the night with/ Au cour de la nuit.."
brings together two personalities in a city that is related to one or both
protagonists. For example German actress Franka Potente met director John
Carpenter in Los Angeles, artist Grayson Perry and German actor Udo Kier
spent an evening in London and we've had people getting together in
Istanbul, Paris or Stockholm - writers, artists, authors, conductors.
The new episode is a real goody for any fan of Dieter Meier - unfortunately
only for those living in the ARTE- service area (Germany and France) or
possessing satellite TV.
Anyway we would be delighted if you could recommend our film on your
homepage/ webforum.
It will be broadcast on the night of october 5th/ 6th at 00:25 h on ARTE.
Dieter Meier news
Hi,
finally got a digital copy on DVD of this broadcast on ARTE. A friend had recorded it on a PC and put it on DVD for me. Some minutes at the end are missing, because the broadcast was a bit delayed and there were not enough extra minutes programmed on the recording device. The recording was done through a digital satellite receiver as an USB device directly on hard disc. So the quality is as good as any regular DVD production. I have not had time to watch it entirely, just jumped through it quickly and took some snapshots - http://gall-utting.de/arte/
With the exception of a short self introduction of Dieter in German, the whole interview is in English language (with German subtitles). What I saw and heard so far sounds quite interesting. It reveals many details of Dieter's life.
Now making this 50 minutes interview available to you, is both a legal and logistic problem. Right now, I have no idea, what to do about it. Any ideas?
Regards
Franz
